Shelter for New Caledonia
The battles of WWII fought out in the Pacific took many ANZAC lives, and forged links between the troops and the locals. The Pacific War Veterans Charitable Trust is ‘giving something back’ with a pole and rafter canopy building for the people of Bourail, New Caledonia. It will be used for a variety of community uses such as rural fairs and events and as a stable for the annual Trade Fair of Agriculture and Craft, the largest rural event of the year in New Caledonia.
All the materials for the $65,000 project were sourced in New Zealand and shipped to New Caledonia. NPIL donated LVL for use in the construction, which was completed in February.
