LVL stars in Christchurch rebuild

As part of the Christchurch rebuild, the 109-home Atlas Quarter is taking shape in Welles St in the central city. The apartment and townhouse complex includes a shared courtyard, function space, café and shops; with 32 of the homes to be priced below the KiwiSaver HomeStart threshold of $450,000.

NelsonPine LVL is being supplied through Placemakers’ Frame & Truss in Christchurch. The total volume is 450cu m of LVL spread over the three buildings of the complex, each of which has five levels, with retail and other commercial users on the ground floor, then four levels of apartments. The building is a steel construction, with LVL, in mainly 50mm x 100mm lengths, used for the internal and external wall frames.
